White Tiger by Kan

White Tiger (Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang) is a classical formula from the ancient Shang Hun Lun (220 A.D.) that addresses Heat patterns in the body. This modified version incorporates Chinese yam and American ginseng to broaden its scope for acute exterior invasions with underlying Yin deficiency. The formula uses the clearing (Qing Fa) method to transform and purify Heat, symbolized by the White Tiger of Chinese mythology representing the Metal spirit and fall's cooling influence.

• Sheng shi gao (Gypsum)
• Zhi mu (Anemarrhena rhizome)
• Shan yao (Chinese yam rhizome)
• Xi yang shen (American ginseng root)
• Zhi gan cao (Honey fried Chinese licorice root and rhizome)

Cautions

Not for long term use. Contraindicated for Heat due to Spleen and Stomach deficiency and for True Cold False Heat. True Cold False Heat pattern is true Yang deficiency mixed with what appears to be Heat, but the root cause is actually from deficient Kidney Yang. Discontinue use with a stiff neck, headache due to Yang Qi not rising, icy-cold limbs, fever without thirst, sweating accompanied by a pale complexion and impairment of mental faculties.
