Heart Fire presents with excess signs (strong pulse, thick yellow coating, mouth ulcers, marked thirst) while Heart Yin Deficiency shows deficiency signs (thin pulse, little or no coating, mild thirst, night sweats, five-palm heat)
vs. Liver Fire Blazing Upward
Heart Fire affects shen with insomnia and mental agitation as primary features. Liver Fire presents with pronounced anger, headaches, tinnitus, red eyes, and hypochondriac pain as dominant symptoms. Pulse location differs: Heart Fire affects the left cun position more prominently
vs. Phlegm Fire Harassing Heart
Heart Fire shows clear heat signs with red tongue and rapid pulse. Phlegm Fire presents with sticky yellow coating, expectoration, chest oppression, and slippery pulse combined with rapid rate. Mental symptoms in Phlegm Fire tend toward confusion rather than pure agitation
